FAMILY/COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LEAD

LOCATION: SIKESTON ADMIN OFFICE  

This position leads the program governance, family and community engagement services, and ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance) processes as outlined in Head Start Program Performance Standards 1301, 1302, and 1303. Supervises and coaches the Family/Community Engagement team positions assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

  • Leads program wide implementation of Conscious Discipline parent curriculum.

  • Increases personal knowledge and skills in order to model, coach and train staff in implementation.

  • Works collaboratively with Emotional Wellness Specialist and Management Team to lead family/home implementation that compliments classroom implementation.

  • Develops center implementation plans to accomplish parent curriculum fidelity, collaborating with leads, specialists and center directors.

  • Leads staff to establish Family Partnerships that accomplish family goal setting, identifying strengths and challenges, and ensuring referral to community resources, with follow-up as necessary.

  • Ensure Family Handbook is updated annually with input from all appropriate service areas.

  • Leads beginning of year parent interest survey and end of the year parent satisfaction survey processes annually.

  • Collaborates with Education Lead to ensure parents and community stakeholders receive school readiness survey.

  • Assists the Program Director with grant writing annually.

  • Participates on the Agency Community Assessment Team, ensuring the process includes data requirements of the Head Start Program Performance Standards.  Assists the Program Director with securing assessment update data annually as required.

  • Ensure Family/Community Resource Directory is maintained and updated annually.

  • Leads In-kind (non-federal share/donation) efforts through collaboration with other Central Office staff:  may include Head Start Awareness month, Breakfast Club, Book Drives, special volunteer activities/events and other efforts as developed.

  • Assists Program Director with Policy Council governance processes (meetings, notifications, minutes, packets, orientation, etc.)

  • Partners with the Program Director to strengthen and develop community relationships/partnerships through appropriate activities and presentations.  May facilitate development and renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with community partners.

  • Creates/contributes to press releases to further awareness and increase community engagement

This job supervises members of the Family/Community Engagement Team and others as assigned. This position provides guidance and instruction for Center Directors and applicable Center staff as it pertains to Family and Community Engagement, Program Governance (Policy Council) and ERSEA duties. Has the authority to coordinate discipline of Center Staff with Center Director when appropriate.

Bachelor’s degree (B. A/S) Social Sciences, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling or related degree from a four-year college or university required per OHS Performance Standards; minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience. Early Childhood experience preferred.

Travel will be required within the six county service area.
