EARLY HEAD START FAMILY ADVOCATE
LOCATION: HAYTI and NEW MADRID EARLY HEAD START
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive program services to families enrolled in the Early Head Start program. Builds and maintains positive relationships with children and families.
Program Administration and Coordination
In coordination with Center Staff:
Become knowledgeable of and collaborate with service agencies in the local area.
Engages families in assessing and establishing family partnership agreements.
Maintains ongoing family contacts to include, but not be limited to, phone calls, visits in the center, center based meetings, and home visits as necessary or required.
Coordinates family referral process to include connections with local service agencies and follow-up.
Assists families in securing transportation to and from the center and to appointments as necessary.
Assists with maintaining full enrollment with a waitlist.
Recruits eligible children and families.
Assists families in the application process, including application for state subsidy.
Follow-up on and document child absences on a daily basis.
Assists with obtaining and reviewing health records to maintain compliance.
Serves as a resource person for parent and staff training.
Ensures confidentiality in all aspects of the program is maintained as directed and necessary.
Monitoring, Recordkeeping and Fiscal
Maintains team filing, tracking and documentation systems.
Monitors completion and compliance in the following areas:
Family Partnership Agreements
Family Referrals and follow-up
Recruitment activities
Enrollment and waitlist
Participates in the annual program self-assessment and is responsible for implementing changes based upon the results.
Generate and document in-kind for the program.
Ensures the entering of data in a timely manner.
Associate’s (AA) Degree required. Bachelor’s (BA) degree in social services, early childhood or a related field and experience working with children and families is preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is highly favored.
